The authors provide conceptual analysis of nature of a phenomenon that is, in the authors’ opinion, observed in social life of modern Russia. They suggest a term “archaic standstill” describing the phenomenon under study. With due regard to the complexity of the nature of archaism, the authors have advanced a hypothesis that many archaic patterns are derived from Soviet educational system.
